Introduction to the Fisher equation and travelling waves
- Event time: 11:30am
- Event date: 20th November 2013
- Speaker: Professor Martin Evans (School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Room 2511, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
I'll give an informal introduction to the Fisher (or Fisher Kolmogorov) equation. I'll discuss its physical and biological motivations then go on to discuss travelling wave solutions and how the wave speed is selected.
