The Probability Distribution for Run-and-Tumble Swimmers
- Event time: 11:30am
- Event date: 1st February 2017
- Speaker: Dr Aidan Brown (School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Room 2511, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
I will calculate the probability distribution for the displacement of run-and-tumble swimmers, which is a model for biological swimmers like E. coli bacteria that randomly reorient by sudden changes of direction [1]. This talk follows one I gave in December where I discussed the mean-squared-displacement of these particles.
