Event details
The Campi Flegrei caldera in southern Italy is frequently cited as one of the most dangerous volcanic areas in the world. In the last century, the area has seen renewed episodes of major volcanic unrest accompanied with ground uplift. These two works, recently published in Nature Communications, argue that Campi Flegrei may be evolving towards an eruptive event.
