Charge propagation in strong field QED
Charge propagation in strong field QED
- Event time: 2:00pm
- Event date: 22nd May 2019
- Speaker: David McMullan (University of Plymouth)
- Location: Higgs Centre Seminar Room, Room 4305, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
Over the next few years multiple experiments will probe laser-matter interactions at the high intensity frontier,
where the strong field sector of QED becomes relevant. This talk will briefly review these developments and then focus
on the theoretical challenges raised in finding a quantum field theory description of an electron propagating in such
backgrounds. This will include new results and conjectures on both the tree and one-loop structures of the theory.
About Particle Physics Theory seminars
The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
