Wave solution of non-linear conservation laws
Statistical Physics and Complexity Group meeting
Wave solution of non-linear conservation laws
- Event time: 11:30am until 12:30pm
- Event date: 16th January 2019
- Speaker: Francesco Cagnetta (Formerly School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Room 4309, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
I will introduce the problem of non-linear conservation laws and outline the theory of 1st order hyperbolic partial differential equation. Here the mathematical concepts of shockwave and rarefaction wave will be introduced within the framework of a working example---the shallow water waves equations.
