Probabilistic definition of the perturbative theoretical uncertainty from missing higher orders

  • Event time: 2:00pm until 3:00pm
  • Event date: 18th May 2022
  • Speaker: Marco Bonvini (University of Oxford)
  • Location: Online

Event details

I will present a recent proposal for quantifying theory uncertainties coming from the finite-order truncation of perturbative expansions. The main advantages with respect to canonical methods (in particular scale variation in quantum field theory) are its reliability and the fact that it is probabilistically well defined. I will show some examples and discuss various possibilities.
