Event details
One of the key potentials with gravitational wave observations is to probe the properties of black holes and neutron stars. From a theoretical perspective it is important to develop theoretical models for compact objects that take into account spin, charge, and the internal structure. In this talk, using symmetries and techniques from effective field theory, I will describe an approach to derive the building blocks of an effective theory for compact objects, construct the effective action and obtain the dynamics.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars
The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
