How phage and bacteria coexist
Statistical Physics and Complexity Group meeting
How phage and bacteria coexist
- Event time: 3:00pm until 4:00pm
- Event date: 7th February 2023
- Speaker: Associate Professor Namiko Mitarai (Niels Bohr Institute)
- Location: Zoom - see email invite.
Event details
Bacteriophages are central to microbial ecosystems for balancing bacterial populations and promoting evolution by applying strong selection pressure. Here we consider the aspects that modulate phage-bacteria interaction in a way that naturally promotes their coexistence, focusing on phages' ability to reshuffle optimal bacterial growth and the effect of spatial refuges against unlimited phage predation.
