Proton structure in and out of muonic hydrogen

Particle Physics Theory seminar

Proton structure in and out of muonic hydrogen

Event details

Title:

Proton structure in and out of muonic hydrogen

Abstract:

In this talk, I will start with a short review of proton radius puzzle and its present status, covering lepton-proton scattering, as well as hydrogen and muonic-hydrogen spectroscopy. After that, I will discuss the spectroscopy of light muonic atoms with a focus on nucleon- and nuclear structure corrections from two-photon exchange. As an outlook, I will briefly touch on the potential of precision spectroscopy to test QED and nuclear theories, refine fundamental constants, and search for New Physics.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
