Title: Don’t get cross, get crossing symmetric!

Abstract: Positivity bounds were developed in the 1970s as a way to put constraints on observable scattering amplitudes and phase shifts following from causality and Lorentz invariance. In modern times they have proven to be extremely powerful at constraining generic effective field theories. I will discuss the particular gain from incorporating full crossing symmetry, how different dispersion relations may be developed (beyond fixed t), some recent progress on how loop corrections are incorporated and open questions.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
