Event details
Physics continues to fall short in representing the diversity of the general population. This shortfall raises important issues of fairness and social justice regarding equal access to opportunities, while also limiting the potential for more innovative teams and a broader STEM talent pool in an era of rapid technological advancement. This talk will explore key challenges in improving diversity within physics, including redefining its public image, implementing early-career interventions, and transforming recruitment practices and workplace cultures. I will share insights from diversity initiatives I have contributed to, including Greenlight4Girls, the UK Conference for Undergraduate Women and Non-Binary Physicists (CUWiP+), and the National Society of Black Physicists’ Summer Research Program in New York City, discussing the lessons learned and their potential for shaping a more inclusive future in physics.
