Event details

We investigate the hadronic structure of the pion utilising the Feynman-Hellmann (FH) theorem. The Compton amplitude of the pion is difficult to evaluate due the systems susceptibility to noise when boosted to higher momenta. To overcome this, we employ the noise reduction techniques of momentum smearing and all-mode averaging. As an initial test of these techniques, they are first applied to elastic scattering. This allows the form factor of the pion to be determined at a higher momentum transfer then previously achieved utilising the FH theorem. We also present recent progress investigating the Gross-Llewellyn Smith (GLS) sum rule for the pion.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
