1pm - 2pm: FORM 5.0 and Beyond: New Tools for Precision Physics

  • Event time: 12:30pm until 2:30pm
  • Event date: 30th September 2026
  • Speaker: Coenraad Marinissen (Nikhef )
  • Location: Higgs Centre Seminar Room (4305, )

Event details

FORM continues to evolve to meet the computational demands of modern theoretical particle physics. In this seminar, I will introduce the major new capabilities of FORM 5.0 (arXiv:2601.19982) and discuss current developments and future directions. After a short introduction to FORM, the first part will focus on integrated Feynman-diagram generation, arbitrary-precision floating-point arithmetic, and improved rational polynomial arithmetic. These additions extend the range of calculations that can be performed directly within FORM

Looking beyond version 5.0, I will review progress towards FORM 5.1, including ongoing work on p-adic arithmetic and namespaces, alongside other new features and improvements planned for this release. Throughout the seminar, I will present physics-motivated ideas for using both the capabilities introduced in FORM 5.0 and those being developed for FORM 5.1.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
