Event details
Charm decays offer a unique window into the dynamics of up-type quark transitions, and therefore stand as an important testing ground for the Standard Model and potential new physics. In this talk, I will discuss charm decays via charged weak currents. First, from (semi)leptonic decays, I will present an approach to extract CKM elements by global analyses of available experimental data and theoretical input, with a focus on V_cs. Then, I will turn to the more complex domain of hadronic decays, where theoretical predictions are more challenging due to strong interaction effects. Using SU(3)_F symmetry of QCD, and accounting for its breaking, I will discuss two-body charm meson decays, with a focus on final states including the eta’ and presenting branching ratio and CP violation predictions. By the end of this talk, I hope to have convinced you that charm decays remain an essential area of study in flavour physics, with many interesting puzzles to be understood!
About Particle Physics Theory seminars
The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
