Event details
Left-hand cuts arising from light-particle exchanges limit the standard Lüscher analysis used to extract scattering amplitudes from finite-volume energies obtained in lattice QCD. This impacts systems such as $NN$ and $DD^*$, relevant for nuclear physics and exotic hadron spectroscopy, where energy levels can lie close to or on the cuts. Several formalisms that address the issue are now in place and focus has shifted to applying and connecting them. I review recent progress, including a first application to $NN$ scattering at light quark masses, and to the doubly charmed tetraquark $T_{cc}^+$. I also discuss formal developments connecting two- and three-body methods, and first steps towards extending the formalism to two-hadron amplitudes that couple to an external current, $2 + \mathcal J \to 2$, relevant for probing electromagnetic properties and the structure of states such as the deuteron and $T_{cc}^+$.
About Particle Physics Theory seminars
The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
