Fellowships and Grants

We are excited to explore fellowships and grants with researchers who wish to be based in the group. 

We welcome contact from interested applicants for a wide range of external fellowships and grants including the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships, STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships, Royal Society University Research Fellowships, Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships, Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Fellowships, Leverhulme Trust Fellowships, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships and European Research Council grants. In addition to these external fellowships, the university and the School of Physics and Astronomy also offer internal independent positions, such as the Elizabeth Gardner Fellowship.  

More information can be found on the school webpage. We encourage those who want to explore these opportunities to contact an academic in the group a few months before the relevant funder deadline. For the Ernest Rutherford and University Research Fellowships we typically recommend contacting the group by May or early June.

Summer Placements

We also welcome summer placements, typically through the School of Physics and Astronomy’s scheme. We do not offer unpaid placements or internships.
