Andy is a Corporate Law Partner in the Edinburgh office of Addleshaw Goddard, a premium international business law firm. He is a leading member of the firm's corporate finance and M&A teams, regularly advising on start-ups and spin-outs, fundraisings, mergers, acquisitions and disposals.
Andy is also a founding member of venture capital investor Par Equity which Andy helped to establish in 2008 and which has to date made over 47 investments with over £100m of capital under management.
In this masterclass, Andy will cover all the legal aspects of "building a hypothetical business", including:
- corporate structure
- funding, including the basics of debt and equity and the concept of solvency
- accounts, including key balance sheet items (with a particular focus on IP, given the audience) and when you might need a business plan
- employees, consultants and contractors
- and, if time allows, contracts
