ZeroAvia is a clean aviation and defence leader focusing on developing of hydrogen-electric engines for commercial aircraft and electric propulsion component technologies for novel transport applications. Georgy Egorov, the CFO of the company, will talk about his career journey spanning more than 25 years and how his degree in math led him first to a career in investment banking, and subsequently in AI and climate tech. Joined by ZeroAvia’s senior fuel cell engineer Daniela Agachi, they will also talk about technical challenges facing ZeroAvia and career opportunities in the company.
Students and staff from across the College of Science and Engineering and wider University are welcome to attend. After Georgy's talk, there will be time for networking over some refreshments.
About ZeroAvia
ZeroAvia is leading the transition to a clean future of flight by developing electric propulsion technologies for aviation to unlock lower costs and emissions, cleaner air, reduced noise, energy independence and increased connectivity. The company is developing hydrogen-electric (fuel cell-powered) engines for existing commercial aircraft segments and also supplying hydrogen and electric propulsion component technologies for novel electric air transport applications (including battery, hybrid and fuel cell powered electric fixed-wing aircraft, novel eVTOL designs, rotorcraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). ZeroAvia has submitted its first full engine for up to 20-seat planes for certification and is working on a larger powertrain for 40–80-seat aircraft, with significant flight test and regulatory milestones achieved with the U.S. FAA and UK CAA.
About Georgy
Georgy Egorov is Chief Financial Officer of ZeroAvia, a company developing the first practical hydrogen-electric, zero-emission aviation solution. He has got more than 25 years of finance, strategy, and capital markets experience as well as extensive knowledge of investor relations and corporate development. Before ZeroAvia, Georgy was CFO of Barinthus, a company that co-invented the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and which he helped take public on Nasdaq in 2021. Prior to that, Georgy was the CFO of Exscientia, one of the global leaders in AI / machine learning, which also went public on Nasdaq. Prior to his CFO career, he spent 17 years in investment banking, including Goldman Sachs and UBS, during which period he led more than 50 IPOs, helped raise more than $100bn of equity and debt capital for companies around the world and was involved in numerous M&A transactions. He started his professional career in PwC. Georgy is a graduate of the University of Cambridge.
