Dr. Ben Panter, former UoE astronomer turned medical imaging entrepreneur, will describe his experiences leading Blackford Analysis for over fifteen years, from initial research at the University through the spinout process, establishing product-market fit and then scaling to the point of acquisition by Bayer, a multinational pharmaceuticals business. Alongside the story Ben will highlight areas that are useful for academics to consider as they contemplate commercialisation of their research: the mechanics of working with investors, understanding the difference between product and tech and establishing and maintaining company culture.
