MSc in Particle and Nuclear Physics
PhD Nuclear Physics
PhD project opportunities
We offer several PhD projects in each of our research areas. Please use the link below to see a list of current PhD project opportunities in Nuclear Physics. Our PhD students can usually take the first few months of their study to explore all possible PhD projects offered by the group, before deciding.
We can directly offer STFC funded studentships, however encourage applicants to apply for other funded studenthips in parallel. Deadlines for studentship applications are usually end of January / early February. The initial application deadline for STFC studentships is 24 January 2020, however, applications reached after the deadline will continue to be considered until all the positions are filled.
Current entry requirements for a PhD in Nuclear Physics can be found in the page in the University's degree finder website linked below.
Apply for a PhD
Please apply for a PhD on the University's application page. We do not require you to submit your own research proposal in your application, but we would like to know about your research interests, and if you would like to work in a specific research area.
You need to apply for funding through studentships in parallel (except for STFC studentships, which we can offer directly). Deadlines for studentships are usually end of January / early February. We consider candidates for STFC studentships around the same time in the year.
For informal enquiries about a PhD with the Nuclear Physics group please contact Prof. Phil Woods.
